Staying Heart Healthy

Health and fitness have always been very important to me. In 2011, I made the choice to commit to weight training and cardio conditioning 3 times a week. In 2013 I began Hot Yoga, for the 5th time. I have been practising yoga for 15 years off and on, but made the choice to practice at least 2 times per week. As well I have always exercised since my basketball day’s way back in high school. However, I was lacking consistency. So I made the decision to make HEALTH a priority. The results have been phenomenal. Not only have I dropped 15 pounds and increased my muscle tone but from a mental and spiritual perspective, I feel like I am a completely different person than I was 5 years ago. I have much more energy; I am more positive, less stressed and feel so strong! I also chose to refine my eating habits; although they were not terrible before. I began to be aware of what I was eating, why I was eating and when I was eating. I decreased my carbohydrate in take, decrease my sugar intake (especially at night after dinner) increased my PURE WATER intake and began eating more vegetables (I already loved fruit, so that was easy to keep up). So as I get older, turning 40 this past November, I actually am in better shape then when I was 25, before I had children.

It is not impossible, you do have the time and you are worth it!

You see life is all about choices and everyday is a new day and you get to make new choices. You get to choose to be the best version of yourself. Because there are not do-overs, life is not a dress rehearsal; this is it, your life, NOW. You can either make choices that make you feel bad, have low energy and low self-esteem or you can choose to be happy, feel good, and take care of your body, regardless of your external circumstances. I am busy like you too. I have 2 children and run my own business. There are times when the entire house is sick or I am just worn out and tired. But I quiet the voice between my ears, I put two feet on the floor, roll out of bed on a cold winter morning and head off to 6am Hot Yoga or to my home gym in the basement and while everyone is still asleep I get some quality ME time and set myself up a great day !

Choose to treat your body well, you deserve it. Put good food into your body. Feed it healthy fresh foods without preservatives and hormone free meats.  Nourish it with pure, clean great tasting drinking water to flush out all those toxins that have accumulated over the years. The toxins that will begin to be released once your body begins to move and exercise.
