The Best Water-Rich Foods for Better Hydration

We all know that getting adequate hydration throughout the day supports our body and overall health.
Clean hydration supports
cognitive function
mental concentration
energy
digestion
helps to reduce headaches.
Yet, realistically it's not always easy with our busy schedules, travel plans, or simply just forgetting to drink water.
What I’ve found to be helpful in supporting my daily hydration is having water rich foods available. This way, I can stay hydrated while not having to search for a bathroom when I’m out doing my errands!
In addition, water rich foods often hydrate us better than water alone. This is because water rich foods contain:
✅ water
✅ potassium
✅ magnesium
✅ carbohydrates
✅ soluble fiber
These foods slow disgetstion and improve fluid retention.
For example, eating an orange gives you:
water
natural sugars
potassium
fiber
Instead of a rapid flood of water into the intestine, fluids are released gradually.
How does the body stay hydrated on a cellular level when we eat and drink?
In the most simple explanation:
Water moves into our cells primarily through tiny natural channels in the cell membrane
Electrolytes like sodium and potassium help move water to where your body needs it most.
Water-rich foods naturally provide water along with electrolytes that support healthy hydration.
What does this means for optimal hydration?
Drink enough water throughout the day for your body wieght, activity level and air temperature
Eat plenty of water-rich fruits and vegetables (see chart below)
