Chemicals In Your Water

The water that comes out of your tap looks clean and clear, yet there are over 40,000 chemicals on the market, and only a few hundred are regulated in our drinking water. Even worse, are the “forever chemicals” which take thousands of years to degrade.

Chlorine in Tap Water

Chlorine is a strong oxidizing disinfectant that has been used to treat drinking water supplies for more than 60 years. Chlorine kills waterborne diseases and microorganisms commonly found in water.

Hard Water

Hard water is water that contains high levels of dissolved calcium and magnesium minerals. Calcium and magnesium are naturally occurring in the environment. As water progresses through the hydrological cycle, it picks up these minerals along the way.

Heavy Metals

Heavy metals pose a serious threat to our health. Among the World Health Organizations (WHO) Top 10 chemicals of major health concerns, four of them are metal or metalloid: arsenic, cadmium, lead and mercury.

Living Things In Your Water (Bacteria/Protozoans/Viruses)

Bacteria including e-coli, coliforms and legionella are single celled microorganisms commonly found in well water, lake water and cistern water.

Water & pH

pH refers to how acidic or basic the water is. It is measured on scale of 1-14. Water with a pH of 7 is neutral (meaning not acidic or basic). Water between 1-6.9 is considered acidic and water measuring 7.1-14 is basic (or alkaline).

Your Skin & Water

Your skin protects your body from harmful elements in your environment. Some people have very sensitive skin and others are less affected. Exposure to chlorine in water as well as hard water can impact the quality of your skin texture.
